Question: I am only 15 years old and I want to take the Abortion Pill , but I just don’t want my mother to find out. What I am getting myself into ? Breyona
We see many patients who choose the Abortion Pill who do not want their mother or the people in the house to know they are having an abortion. One of the best things about the Abortion Pill is that it can be hard to tell an early abortion with the abortion pill from a bad menstrual period. Both involve heavy cramping and bleeding. In New York State you do not need to let your mother know about your decision.
That said, usually people are not aware of all that is involved in taking the Abortion Pill. The Abortion Pill is not just simply swallowing a pill and then getting your period. It is best for you to go to a doctor to find out whether it is really the best option for you. The doctor will explain to you what to expect. There are usually three steps to taking the Abortion Pill:
You go to the doctor’s office to see if you are eligible for the abortion pill. They usually check an ultrasound to make sure you are under 9 weeks pregnant. You swallow one pill in the office. You usually feel normal after taking this pill.
You take the second set of pills at home. Usually within hours, you experience cramping and bleeding.
You come back to the doctor’s office for a follow up visit and to make sure the abortion pill was successful.
If you come to Early Options to take the abortion pill, we do our best to make sure you are as comfortable as possible:
You have a personal consultation with the doctor to make sure the Abortion Pill is the best choice for you.
We give you pain medicines, including Vicodin, to take home with you.
We give you anti-nausea medicines.
We give you an extra set of pills to take in case it doesn’t work the first time, to avoid an extra trip to the office.
We have staff available 24 hours for any questions.
At Early Options, 9 out of 10 patients choose the Aspiration Procedure over the Abortion Pill. Both the Aspiration Procedure and the Abortion Pill are considered non-surgical, and are endorsed by the World Health Organization as the safest abortion methods. The advantages of the Aspiration Procedure include that it is done in one visit, there is less bleeding, there is less cramping, and there is a higher success rate. See our website to compare your abortion options.

hello i 19 years old i had my first abortion when i was 16 years old i then feel pregnant again at seven teen but it was a ectopic pregnancy, now i have just turn 19 and pregnant again would it be safe for me to have another abortion. could that bring a bigger risk for me to have another ectopic. i want whats best for me and my future. like if i do decide to keep it ill have a lot of help and support and i could be ready. i just want to no the risk
Thank you for your question on safe abortion and ectopic pregnancy. There are no studies that indicate that abortion will cause ectopic pregnancies. It would be extremely rare for you to have a second ectopic pregnancy. Abortion would not increase the chance of this happening. You are also not at additional risk to continue the pregnancy, if that is your choice.
Abortion is an extremely safe procedure, and should not interfere with future pregnancies. I would recommend 1) the Aspiration procedure; 2) the Abortion Pill; 3) surgical abortion WITHOUT scraping (sometimes called “suction curettage”) as the safest abortion methods. Scraping during an abortion (D&C procedure) is known to cause uterine scarring (Asherman’s syndrome) and is not recommended. When you call to make an appointment, you can ask if the doctor scrapes the uterus, and if you can recommend that they don’t use a “curette” when they do the procedure.

i am 19 years old and had an abortion april 19th 2008 now i have found outim pregnant again and i cant handle having the baby i no this cos i have nothing in my life and eveyday i try t find a reason to live and fail so what would you suggest i do?
There are no concerns with ending a pregnancy a second time, or even more. Abortion is extremely safe – it is one of the safest medical procedures. Having more than one abortion does not interfere with future pregnancies. You can feel confident that you will still be healthy and able to get pregnant when you are ready.
Another option it to try the abortion pill (Ru 486) . The abortion pill is an excellent safe early abortion method. It is a very safe, nonsurgical method. Some women feel more comfortable with this method because the experience is more like an early miscarriage.
